These photographs are about, the industrial environment. Taken in Colour or Black & White, and the danger of having people living in the environment alongside Industrial development such as electricity pylon’s on the canal and government industrial land, there is a lot of danger there. The pylons carry millions of voltages in there cables. People live by the water on barge’s and river boat’s they sometime’s have children and use the canal as a leisure Space or activity to travel along and live beside. So there are health danger’s.
I took these picture’s to show the space that is covered by these structure’s and the area people use that these space’s come into. both people whom use these area’s and the government industrial Landscape cover the same vast space’s. and both want to use them at the same time so there is a kind of a stand off between each other’s Intended usage of seemingly free space. In which their seem to be risking danger in seeking leisure space and time. The government seem to be certain to use this space to hide or show the danger of using this space.
They basically give the idea that if this space is in the background it won’t matter how this space is used and they give clear warning, without penalty of what this land is intended for. for instance there are signs saying keep out but not threatening punishment for trespassing, only for dumping waste material.
so the people travelling and live along the canal and use it knowing the immediate danger’s in a sourght of protest that it should be land for them to have free use of. This is intended to be confusing and a protest by the people whom want the space as somewhere to go and recapture an old time which existed when the canal was used for travel and socio economical and commercial use. The swans from walthemstowe nature reserve. in the picture’s show how they are close to danger near pylon;s in the canal ect.
I found it fascinating that there was a nature reserve so near, industrial land I think that the they don’t go together, because of the danger and the use of high powered electricity cable’s on this land. But there is nature there in the form of swan’s swimming about the canal. Taken in Colour or Black & White, next to them are Pylon’s which carry millions of high voltage electricity along the canal, if they come in contact with the nature reserve’s bird’s and swan’s what would happen„ they are a picture of innocence and a kind of solitude which i find in
nature it has connotation of queiter time’s in life for myself and other ppeople. Also as such these people whom use the canal this space and live there what would happen to them. This first interested me in taking these photograph’s of people and nature living side by side whilst being in an industrial space.
Pylons
pylons. the picture in close up of a pylon. it ;ike the old anectdote of the donkey & carrot, pylons. unique i like the idea, of my being able to use communication. millions and millions of volts able to produce. we have all the power to communicate and are restricted by Governmentto use it.
This is a Urban Landscape. The Canal. In Colour. Which is Photographic Art. I took with a small format digital camera, with In colour, digital Jpeg file’s originally. But the choice of digital Jpeg file’s at 200 ASA exposure sensitivity was done for a reason’s in which to create an Photoggraphic Artistic image of finest pixellation for that time of day and reproduction if needed.

They were taken on digital camera’s the Nikon cybershot camera 35mm, it is like a compact camera with more function that you would find on a standard professional camera the photograph’s were shot at 125ASA film speed on the digital read out, the lens was a 35mm to 70mm lens. The camera is easily hand held. theni saved the photograph’s as jpeg file’s in the camera but were transfered in the first instance on the computer to TIFF file’sand a copy was made of these to Jpeg once again to work on in photoshop in case some quality was losted by this retoching in photoshop.
I alway’s had the TIFF’s to go back to, too make another copy and work on again learning by my mistake’s. the photograph’s were printed on digital super gloss digital paper and on kodak digital paper. And were taken with a project in mind of nature and the enviroment. As it was being threatened bythe advancement of technology.
